Here Fishy Fishy Fishy!

A couple weekends ago, we went to a fishing event at a local pond.  Businesses donate fishing poles and tackle boxes to every kid (until they run out) and there are free hot dogs and soda for lunch.  It's very well organized and fun, but with so many people, it's hard to find a good spot and keep the kids from going crazy.  We didn't fish long because we ran out of worms and some inexperienced fishers next to us were making me nervous trying to cast their lines.

We enjoyed our lunch and promised the kids that this weekend we would take them fishing for real.  (not sure what's up with the cheesy closed-eye smiles here)

The masses surrounding the pond.

Despite cool weather, we made good on our promise and went fishing at the lake this weekend.  We bundled up with layers and headed out for a morning of fishing.  The bundling process included adult sweatshirts over top the life jackets - made for a good hunchback look.  :)

We've never had much luck on this lake, but we did great this particular morning!  Within 5 minutes of the first line out, Rylan caught a good looking walleye, so the day was already a success!

Here's my new favorite picture of my girl!

Mackenzie was more than thrilled to reel in a little Sunny and she proudly stuck her thumb in it's mouth to hold it.  She's not scared of anything!

Here's my first Sunny of the day!

Mackenzie even kissed this Bass goodbye before we threw it back in.

She wanted to hold the Bass I caught, but settled on holding the tail for me.

There was a little fighting, but the kids were surprisingly good and lasted a couple hours out on the lake.  We had such a great time, I'm excited to go again, hopefully we'll have as much luck.

Our grand total was 2 walleye's (that we ate for lunch today - delish), 2 bass, 1 northern, and 5 sunnies.
Here's Nick with the walleye.
