My Classroom!

Here's my classroom! In the pictures, it seems like a lot of white, bare space, but it's pretty cozy. I'm loving my room this year!

Front, the board is usually full, but this was right away in the morning before I had written or drawn anything.

Back to School!

Well, I'm back teaching, and the first week is almost over. So far, it's gone really well and I'm really excited for this year. I'm planning on some new things so I'm excited to do those as well. Our group of kids is just awesome so far! I'm the team leader so I'm really busy, but I'm getting used to it. Nick has been so great this week, pretty much taking care of Rylan in the morning so I can get ready and he's been great putting him to bed. I don't know if it's the fact that things have changed a bit, but Rylan has been really hard to get to bed. We've been out driving around 4 times in the past week to get him to sleep and the other times, we have to lay in our bed with him until he falls asleep. But, I think he's also teething, so hopefully this change in his routine won't last 3 months like the last time he was teething. Just when you get used to something though, it changes right? I will do my best to keep posting every week, but with school now, I can't guarantee anything. I will post pictures of my classroom later on today hopefully. I redid all my bulletin boards this year and I really love them. Here's to my 4th year!

Weekend pictures

We had a wedding this past weekend, so here are pictures of the wedding and the Brown Family Golf Scramble. As always, they are pretty much just of Rylan, but that's all you want right? :) Sorry I can't type more now, enjoy the photos! Oh, and I hope you all figured out that if you click on the picture, it will enlarge it slightly. That might be nice for some of them I guess.

The Brown's go Green! Part II

Along with the cloth diapers, I have switched to using reusable bags at the grocery store instead of using the paper or plastic bags they give you. I ordered bags from www.chicobags.com
Here is some info taken from their website:

LEARN THE FACTS & STOP SINGLE-USE BAG WASTE
  • The average American uses between 300 and 700 plastic bags per year.
  • If everyone in the United States tied their annual consumption of plastic bags together in a giant chain, the chain would reach around the Earth not once, but 760 times!
  • According to the American Forest and Paper Association, in 1999 the U.S. alone used 10 billion paper grocery bags, requiring 14 million trees to be cut down.
  • Plastic bags don’t biodegrade, they photo-degrade—breaking down into small toxic bits contaminating soil and waterways and entering the food-chain when mistaken for zooplankton or jellyfish.

So, do the environment a favor and get some reusable grocery bags!

The Big Hunt

So here they are, the elk pictures! I didn't include the face front shot because it's pretty bloody and gross. It's still in velvet too, so that's pretty neat. The velvet is softer than Ace's fur!

He winks!!!

At the prompting of our daycare lady, we've been working on winking. Obviously he can't do it yet, but he thinks he can, and it's so funny! Rylan and I spend the weekend at Rob and Rachel's (my sis and her hubby) so this was a video that Rachel took of Rylan winking! Enjoy!

We spend the weekend with them because Nick was out elk hunting. He got the once-in-a-lifetime tag this year, so he has spent numerous hours scouting and getting permission from landowners. He left this past Tuesday and did some last minutes scouting until the season started on Friday. His dad went with him just for the weekend, and luckily, Nick shot a 6 by 6 at about 200 yards on Saturday night! He is downstairs right now grinding and bagging the meat to freeze. He figures we have about 200 lbs of meat! Wow! So call if you're coming to town, we'll grill elk steaks! He had a great time, and we're very proud of him! I will post pictures when I have them downloaded. Oh, and yes it's being mounted. We don't have room in our house now for it, but you better believe that when we build a house someday, Nick will make sure there is a spot for it!

Random pictures

Just some random pictures from the last week.

He does this face when he's trying to be funny because he knows we'll laugh at him! Goof!

I love this one at the lake.

A crabby kid!
